Goodbye Gobi

Flag of Mongolia

The current flag of Mongolia was adopted on February 12, 1992. It is similar to the flag of 1949, except for the removal of the socialist star. It has three equal, vertical bands of red (hoist side), blue, and red. Centered on the hoist-side red band in yellow is the national emblem (the Soyombo symbol[1] - a columnar arrangement of abstract and geometric representations of fire, sun, moon, earth, water, and the Taijitu or Yin-Yang symbol). Air China that flew me from Beijing, China to Ulaanbataar, Mongolia 7.2.11. From Tel Aviv (Ben Gurion International Airport) after my trip in Israel for 10 days, Air France flew me to Paris to Beiing, China, I needed to have a transit visa in China because I need to leave the Beijing airport and take the 15-min airport shuttle bus ride from terminal 2 to terminal 3.

A souvenir (wooden horse that plays like a violin) a traveler from Mongolia who were in the same plane fr Beijing gave me! A good welcoming gestures of of the people of Mongolia 7.2.11

Hustai National Park in Mongolia is the land of Wild horses Przewalski horse-Takhi, the only still living ancestor of domestic horse. It's current population now is 250 only.

Inside the museum in Hustai National Park. Painting of Takhi and true skull of the ancient horse.

Takhi behind me. This horse is wild and protected. One should not get any closer to them.

Pointing the "lone" endangered ancient Mongolian horse. Unluckily, the horse has a broken hind leg. It was painful to see as this horse struggles.

People keep a certain distance to the ancient horse. They are wild.

Hike in Hustai National Park in search of the ancient horse.

"Three Camel Lodge" in Gobi, Mongolia's premiere luxury expedition camp (I was in ger # 1, close to lodge reception, restaurant, showers, wash rooms, kitchen, and of course a nice overlooking view). One-hour ride from Gurvan Saikhan Airport in Dalanzadgad, Gobi to the lodge.

Ger #1 This was the tourist ger (yurt) at "Three Camel Lodge" where I stayed in my trip to the Gobi desert.

The complex of high mountains, steppes, rivers, lakes and wetlands are kept in their original condition. Visitors to Gun-Galuut see vast steppes seeming to meet the sky, the imposing mountains of Baits and Berkh, the homeland of rare creatures, Ikh-Gun and Ayaga lakes, a paradise of birds, Kherlen, the longest river of Mongolia and the Tsengiin Burd wetland, where water and wetland birds lay their eggs.
