"We...Human Beings" by Swim_butterfly

Click to listen to "Lonely Road" while reading the poem. Thanks You, Ernel

A poem I wrote below reflects the nature of human beings. We are created beings with the power of discernment about life extremes, about our limitations, about our abilities, about our dreams, about our sensitivities, and about our changes. I hope you find this poem timely for the brand new year that lies ahead of us.

We...Human Beings

We have been happy,
and we have been sad.
We have been angry,
and we have been mild.
Emotions...

We have been thankful,
and we have been regretful.
We have been in need,
and we have been fulfilled.
Blessings...

We have dreamt,
and we have planned.
We have achieved,
and we have failed.
Hopes...

We have been healthy,
and we have been weak.
We have been wealthy,
and we have been poor.
Extremes...

We have been heard,
and we have been ignored.
We have been right,
and we have been wrong.
Imperfections...

We have been born,
and we have grown.
We have been immature,
and we have been mindful.
Changes...

We have been rational,
and we have been illogical.
We have been careful,
and we have been restless.
Mindfulness...

We have been alone,
and we have been together.
We have been social,
and we have been in solitude.
Connections...

We’ve thought of the past,
and we’ve planned the future.
We’ve done things this way,
and we’ve changed it for the better.
Reflections...

We have wept,
and we have giggled.
We have fraught,
and we have smiled.
Feelings...

We have been conscientious,
and we have been wasteful.
We have been frugal,
and we have been generous.
Resources...

We have been disappointed,
and we have been satisfied.
We may NOT be miserable,
because it is NOT inevitable.
Expectations...

We are human,
and we will always be one.
We will always change,
as change is inevitable.
Human beings...

Test message again

This is a cover photo from travel book. This has been one of the dream magnificent man-made structures that I have been wanting to see since I learned about it in the primary grade. Now it is a dream coming true. I am flying to Beijing on Jan. 1, 2010. I will visit 2 sections of the Great Wall (Badaling and Mutianyi) plus other historical, cultural, scientific and religious relics. I am hoping and praying for a safe trip. I will post pics here and in Twitter, that's why I am practicing posting blogs with photos via email.

Best regards to all!

The Second Encounter

This is the earliest wake up I had since the winter vacation started - grabbed the computer not even eating breakfast and updated profile in this blog. Wow! This new "entertainment" excites me. I may be hooked on this like in twitter. I tried the mobile version but it did not work. Oh well, it will happen - one at a time. Slow down :) Before I left, I read a section of the magazine of Charles Stanley and one phrase got my attention: "When the winds of prosperity change and financial props collapse, so do people who have trusted in them." --- Very true!!!

Today was the usual routine (except the computer early morning). I had my normal breakfast (3 slices of bread with non-fat cream cheese and zero-trans fat butter), coffee, hard boiled egg white (I tossed out the bad "yolk"), did some clean up (house is always clean which is not usual for a bachelor), drove to Santa Cruz, pass by the Capitola-by-the-Sea (my favorite driving spot) next to the Pacific Ocean, and hit the gym to work-out and swim. The pool was warm (which I like). It was a great practice. I swam next to a "whale" este - the other swimmer swam briskly and too much splash, and the water seemed like dividing into half, hehe. I swam like a fish - so graceful and effortless - little bragging here.

I had my final laundry in the laundry mat today before the Beijing trip on Jan. 1 (so all is clean upon my return). Something happened and I ignored again. An old guy in the laundry mat started playing his guitar. He does not look like a beggar or street people (there's lots of street people in some parts of Santa Cruz specially in downtown). All what I knew that he as just entertaining people and I did not know that we has awaiting for money. I did not have cash in my had except the few cents left from laundry. He left. No one spared him something, including myself. I thought of giving him whatever left in my pocket but I did not want him to feel embarrassed. I felt somewhat regretful of not sparing him some change. I would like to have more power of discernment of those who are really in need or not (those faking). A related situation happened yesterday. I was on my way back to my car (raining and already dark) from the grocery when a lady suddenly approached me asking for a change. What came to my mind was my experience in the same area (2 times) where a lady like her approached me an asked for $ for gas. I igored her and I found out that she went to her car with several men waiting for her. then, she immediately started the car and drove away. She did not need a gas money at all! Ripped off. This was the instinct that came to my mind last night when this lady approached me. My decision was affected by my previous experience. Could you say it as a "phobia?" She may or may not be telling the truth. As I mentioned above, I would like to have more power of discernment of who is really in need or not.

Pardon for my typos, oh well, the more casual the more intimate and personalize the blog is. Good night to everyone.

First Time Blogging

Hello everyone,

I just created this blog account and I am in my new learning curve. This is my first time blogging and experimenting. I like new things, but most of the time I start with new things, I always have a "chill" before I get used to it. I will appreciate good suggestions. I plan to start this blog and get used to it before I leave for Beijing on New Year's Day 2010 - Beijing, here I come! I will post photos from the Great Wall of China, Forbidden City, etc. My next step is to learn how to send a blog using iPhone.

Just a short blog for now. Merry Christmas to all and Happy New Year! You can follow me in Twitter (Swim_butterfly).

Happy trails and happy laps,
